Film Preservationist David Shepard has Passed Away

The Denver Silent Film Festival is very sad to learn of the passing of film preservationist David Shepard. He was the first recipient of the Denver Silent Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient in 2011. Denver Silent Film Festival Director Howie Movshovitz has written the following tribute to David Shepard: "He was one of the world's great film archivists, and from the very beginning of DSFF, David was our mentor and our guide. He suggested films and always found ways for us to fit yet another film into the schedule. He brought us wonderful prints of films, and even brought special projectors with him on the train as he journeyed from his home in Hat Creek, California to Denver to participate in our festival. David's generous spirit helped shape DSFF. Most of all, David Shepard was our friend." His spirit will live on as well as his remarkable work, he will be missed. David Shepard: Born 1940. Died January 31st, 2017
